The State of Michigan has announced its latest round of Advanced Air Mobility funding, totaling 1.7 million dollars across 12 projects statewide. The awards were made through the Office of Future Mobility and Electrification, and Blueflite was selected for two of them.

The first project is drone-enabled organ delivery in Ann Arbor. We are partnering with M-Air to pilot operations that move organs between sites. When an organ becomes available, time is everything, and we believe drones can help close the gap between availability and transplant.

The second project brings rooftop-to-floor package delivery to Detroit. We are testing Tubular Network’s automated vertical tube system at the Detroit Smart Parking Lab. A drone lands a package on the roof, and the system carries it down to the floor where it needs to go. Delivering safely and efficiently in tall buildings is a large part of making drone logistics work in dense cities, and this project tackles that problem directly.

We are grateful to Michigan LEO, the Office of Future Mobility and Electrification, M-Air, Tubular Network, the Detroit Smart Parking Lab, and NextEnergy for their support. Congratulations to the other awardees as well. It is a strong group to be part of, and Michigan is building something real here.
