Noida International Airport signs deal for ePlane air taxis, vertiports and charging stations

The ePlane Company and Noida International Airport, on Thursday, announced to have signed an MoU to develop the infrastructure and operating framework needed for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

The agreement covers vertiports, charging facilities, regulatory procedures and systems required for future Advanced Air Mobility services. The company is developing the e200X for passenger air taxi, air ambulance and urban cargo applications.

It is backed by investors including Speciale Invest, Antares Ventures and Naval Ravikant.

Under the agreement, Noida International Airport will provide space on its premises for proof-of-concept trials, vertiports and charging stations. The airport will also work to align its Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with eVTOL operations.

The partnership is intended to support potential airport-to-airport travel, intra-city commutes and emergency air ambulance services using The ePlane Company’s e200X aircraft.

The two sides will also work with regulators, Air Traffic Control (ATC) authorities and state governments to develop safety frameworks, Vertiport Management Systems and AI-assisted fleet scheduling that can be linked with smart city systems.

e200X Testing

The agreement comes as The ePlane Company continues work on its full-scale e200X PT-01 prototype, which was unveiled in July 2026. The aircraft is now undergoing ground testing.

The company says the prototype follows more than 10,000 km of cumulative flight testing across its technology demonstrators. The ePlane Company

The ePlane Company will work on obtaining the required clearances from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). It will also continue the e200X prototype and flight-testing programme.

The company said the infrastructure agreement is intended to ensure that development of the aircraft and the systems needed to operate it progress in parallel.

Regulatory Push

“This MoU with Noida International Airport allows us to systematically validate our operational models using drone trials before transitioning to piloted e200X flights,” said Dr Satyanarayanan Chakravarthy, Founder and Director of Ubifly Technologies, the company behind The ePlane Company.

He said electric air taxi operations require aircraft, ground infrastructure, regulatory frameworks and operating procedures to be developed together.

Daniel Bircher, Chairman of Noida International Airport, said the airport plans to integrate Advanced Air Mobility into its infrastructure and connectivity framework.

“We are pleased to collaborate with The ePlane Company on developing the ground infrastructure and operational SOPs required to deliver safe, zero-emission air transit and vital emergency services to Delhi-NCR,” Bircher said.

The ePlane Company, founded in 2019 and incubated at the IIT Madras Incubation Cell, is based at the IIT Madras Discovery Campus in Thaiyur, Chennai. It operates a more than 60,000-square-foot facility for eVTOL prototyping, manufacturing and testing.

The company was the first private Indian entity to receive Design Organisation Approval (DOA) from the DGCA. The DGCA formally accepted its e200X Type Certification application in 2024, and the company is targeting commercialisation in 2028.
