DETROIT, MI – July 17, 2025 – blueflite, Jack Demmer Ford, Centrepolis Accelerator, Airspace Link, and DroneUp have joined forces to launch a pioneering drone delivery initiative focused on transporting automotive parts by air. Backed by a $740,000 grant from Michigan’s Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) Activation Fund, the project will pilot the use of autonomous drones to deliver high-demand car parts within a 12-mile radius of Jack Demmer Ford dealerships in Southeast Michigan.
The initiative tackles longstanding inefficiencies in parts logistics, where traffic congestion and delays can disrupt dealership service operations. By integrating drone-based delivery directly into service workflows, the project aims to reduce vehicle repair times, improve supply chain resilience, and offer a model for next-generation logistics in the automotive sector.
This marks one of the first real-world drone delivery pilots in the auto industry and is part of a broader statewide strategy to accelerate advanced aerial mobility. Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s newly signed Executive Directive 2025-4 reinforces this direction, positioning Michigan as a national leader in deploying uncrewed aircraft systems for commercial and government use. The Jack Demmer Ford-blueflite project embodies this vision, uniting local innovation, public support, and advanced technology in service of modernizing how goods move.
Deliveries will take place in the Detroit metro area, contributing to the growing Ann Arbor–Detroit drone corridor and further cementing Michigan’s role as a proving ground for Advanced Air Mobility. The project is expected to generate critical operational insights to inform policy, accelerate industry adoption, and serve as a blueprint for scaling drone logistics across the automotive sector, and beyond.
At a time when mobility is being redefined, this collaboration showcases how Michigan’s automotive roots and aerospace future are coming together to shape a smarter, faster, and more connected supply chain.
