Noida International Airport has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chennai-based aerospace company The ePlane Company to develop the infrastructure and operational framework required for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft operations in Delhi-NCR.

Under the MoU, The ePlane Company plans to bring its e200X electric aircraft to the region for applications including air taxis and air ambulances.

The partnership will focus on creating the infrastructure and systems required to support eVTOL operations at the airport.

The two entities will work on developing vertiport infrastructure, charging facilities, standard operating procedures (SOPs), Vertiport Management Systems, and other operational processes required for eVTOL operations.

Building an eVTOL is only half the mission. The other half is making sure there’s somewhere to land.

We just signed an MoU with Noida International Airport to bring e200X air taxis and air ambulances to Delhi-NCR.

Vertiport and Charging Infrastructure

According to The ePlane Company, the partnership will include allocating space at Noida International Airport for the development of vertiport infrastructure and charging facilities.

The companies will also work towards integrating eVTOL operations with the existing aviation framework.

This will involve coordination with civil aviation authorities and systems, including the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), and Air Traffic Control (ATC).

The proposed infrastructure is intended to provide the physical and operational support required for future eVTOL flights in the Delhi-NCR region.

However, the MoU does not mean that e200X air taxis or air ambulances will begin commercial operations from Noida International Airport immediately.

The aircraft will still need to complete the required testing, certification, and regulatory approvals before commercial operations can begin.

ePlane's e200X Aircraft

The e200X is being developed as an electric aircraft for multiple applications, including air taxis, air ambulances and air cargo.

According to The ePlane Company, the aircraft has a footprint of 8 × 11 metres, allowing it to operate from relatively compact spaces compared with conventional airports.

For medical transportation, the air-ambulance configuration is designed to carry one pilot, one patient and one paramedic, along with a standard stretcher, medical equipment and life-support systems.

The company is also working towards the development of an electric air-ambulance network and has previously signed an MoU with Apollo Hospitals for the initiative.

e200X Certification and Commercialisation

The ePlane Company was founded in 2019 and is incubated at IIT Madras. The company says it has received India's first DGCA Design Organisation Approval for a private aerospace entity.

Its e200X has also entered the DGCA type-certification process. The company is targeting commercialisation of the aircraft in 2028, subject to the required testing and regulatory approvals.

Meanwhile, Noida International Airport began commercial flight operations in June 2026, with IndiGo becoming its first airline operator.

The latest MoU between the airport and The ePlane Company is therefore focused on preparing the infrastructure and operational framework ahead of potential eVTOL operations in Delhi-NCR.

The development of vertiports, charging facilities and airspace coordination could provide the necessary groundwork for future electric air-taxi and air-ambulance services in the region.
